First look at Banana Republic's Anna Karenina-inspired collection channeling 19th century Russia - but this time the fur is all faux

Lace, faux fur and velvet punctuate Banana Republic's latest collection, inspired by Leo Tolstoy's classic novel, Anna Karenina, which has been the subject of a much-anticipated film adaptation.
To capture the feel of 19th century Russia, the 76-piece range was created in collaboration with the film's costume designer, Jacqueline Durran, who was responsible for dressing both Keira Knightley and Jude Law on set.

For women there will be feminine dresses, and military-inspired outerwear, while menswear will consist of old-world topcoats and suits in houndstooth, and flannel. Prices will range from $39.50 for a blouse to $325 for a coat, and $29.50 for for jewellery, to $250 for a handbag.

Modern day Anna: The line for Banana Republic, released October 30, features polished, tailored pieces for both men and women, that conjure the classic refinery of the 1800's with luxe velvet, faux fur and lace

Talking about the line which will hit stores next Monday, Banana Republic's creative director Simon Kneen, told InStyle.com: 'It's really about taking key elements of that time period - sophisticated color, fabrics, and beautiful detailing - and translating that into an updated wardrobe.'

'Small touches such as lace and fur embellishments portray a classic sense of luxury without requiring a full look that may feel 'costumey.'
'Even if incorporating vintage pieces, you shouldn't don a full 19th-century look. Instead, mix and match with more modern pieces to keep it current.'

Military man: Launching at Banana Republic retail locations and online this October to coincide with the U.S. release of the film, on November 9th, the menswear selection will consist of old-world topcoats and suits 

Banana Republic has launched several screen-inspired collections, and has an ongoing Mad Men collaboration.
Ms Durran has worked her design magic on other Kiera Knightly films such as Pride & Prejudice and Atonement.
'She really is so delightful,' the costume designer said.
